Designing Dreams bedroom weeks are our favorite! We could not be more thrilled to introduce you to a very special girl, Meela! Meela is a 5 year-old girl from Chatfield, MN who was diagnosed with Pre B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2017 at the age of 3. It all began in the spring of 2017 when she started experiencing off and on low grade fevers and was tired more frequently. Her parents noticed bruising and Meela was having some minor leg pain. In addition, her belly appeared bloated. Her mom had a weird inkling that she might have leukemia. Her family made efforts to reassure her that it wasn’t but decided to make an appointment to ease their worries. On the day of March 3, 2017, Meela and her family visited her pediatrician who immediately knew that something was wrong. A few short hours later, Meela was diagnosed with cancer. Since that time, Meela has been in and out of the hospital with over 100 days spent there over the past 2 years. She has dealt with complications due to viral infections, such as RSV, a virus that affects the respiratory tract. In addition to enduring harsh chemotherapy regimens for the past two years, she also has had surgery on her lungs. Throughout this journey with cancer, Meela’s family has met amazing people along the way and knows that God is with them through the darkest of times.

Meela has had a long road of treatment, but the end is in sight! Her sweet, sassy and compassionate spirit have persevered throughout treatment, and she deserves the perfect space to recover. We can’t wait to reveal to her the bedroom of her dreams this weekend, filled with many of her favorite things. She loves to play with dolls of all sorts, do hair and make up, and cuddle up and watch movies. Meela also loves coloring, glitter glue, stickers, roll up crayons and fun scissors. Her favorite books are anything Disney princess themed. We were counting down the hours to her big reveal!
