Sweet six-year-old Haylee was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in October of last year, and although she is currently in active treatment with another two years to go, she has such a positive attitude and sparkling personality. Since she is immunocompromised, she spends almost all of her time at home, and really desired a special place to recover and work on all of her arts and crafts. We were thrilled to get to work with Haylee and her family, and her room was very special for Designing Dreams as it was our first room in Nebraska!

During Haylee’s bedroom transformation, we made sure to keep some of her favorite things in mind: rainbows and unicorns! He room is now filled with pretty pastel colors, including mint green walls adorned with a beautiful unicorn, and a pink bed with a princess canopy complete with rainbow sheets and pillow. Her favorite part of all though was the craft corner, where she now has her own table and chairs and all of her crafting supplies on display, which is perfect for all the projects she plans to work on while undergoing treatment.

Haylee’s mom shared with us:

“This was an amazing experience that put a huge smile on all of our faces. You may not be able to first hand feel the impact of a bedroom makeover for a child with cancer or other critical illness but seeing your own child walk through the door of their new room is an unforgettable experience. We have shed SO many tears over the last several months and this helps replace with tears with smile and joy! Seeing Haylee’s face light up the moment she saw her room and continuing to watch her enjoying spending time in their each day makes my heart so full! She finds peace and comfort in this healing space.”
